The Alhaurín neighbourhood of La Alquería began its Fair in honour of Santa Ana this Friday, which will last until Sunday. The mayor, Joaquín Villanova, crowned the queens and the child mister.

The neighbourhood of La Alquería, in Alhaurín de la Torre, has launched its patronal festivities in honour of Santa Ana. The celebration, which started this Friday, will extend until next Sunday, July 26, with a full programme of events organised by the La Alquería Neighbourhood Association in collaboration with the Town Hall.

The first day of the fair was marked by the traditional election of the queens and the child mister. The mayor, Joaquín Villanova, was responsible for crowning the new representatives of the festivities. Mireya was named Youth Queen, while Ayla Violeta received the title of Child Queen. Alejandro Benítez was chosen as Child Mister. All of them will serve in their roles during these days and participate in the central events on Sunday.

The opening day also featured a performance by the Municipal Dance Group led by Lourdes Soto, which entertained the evening at the fair booth. The fairground, located in the neighbourhood itself, hosts numerous attractions, food stalls, and a bar managed by volunteers from the neighbourhood association.

The mayor visited the neighbourhood accompanied by the Councillor for Fiestas and Tourism, Andrés García, and other members of the Municipal Corporation. Villanova shared a pleasant evening with the residents and highlighted the work of the young people from the neighbourhood association, who are "fighting for their neighbourhood." He also emphasised the devotion towards Santa Ana, whom he described as "the pillar and guide of La Alquería."

The highlight of the festivities will come on Sunday with the procession of Santa Ana, which will depart at nine in the evening from her hermitage. Prior to this, at seven-thirty in the afternoon, a mass will be held in honour of the patron saint. The mayor wished all residents and visitors a good fair, encouraging them to enjoy the planned programme of events.

The La Alquería Fair is a traditional event in the festive calendar of Alhaurín de la Torre, which each year gathers hundreds of people around religious and recreational activities. The involvement of the neighbourhood association is key to the development of these festivities, which are sustained by the voluntary efforts of the residents.

For attendees, the fair offers a family atmosphere and the opportunity to participate in various scheduled activities. The neighbourhood, located on the border with Alhaurín el Grande, becomes a meeting point for residents and visitors who want to share their devotion to Santa Ana and enjoy local traditions during these days.
