The Hermitage of Our Lady of Las Angustias hosted this Friday the presentation of the poster announcing the processional parades in honour of Saint Michael the Archangel and the Virgin of Las Angustias, an image of Saint Michael painted by the local artist Juan Antonio Ortega Montesinos, "Juani".
The announcing poster for the processional parades of the Patron Saints of Nerja, Saint Michael the Archangel and the Virgin of Las Angustias, now has an author. The Hermitage of Our Lady of Las Angustias hosted the presentation of the work, an image of Saint Michael created by the local painter Juan Antonio Ortega Montesinos, known as "Juani".
The event was attended by the mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo; the spiritual director and parish priest of El Salvador, Juan Manuel Ortiz; the conciliatory commissioner of the Brotherhood, Felipe Álvarez de Rivera; the councillor for Major Festivals, Elena Gálvez; members of the Municipal Corporation, representatives of the associative fabric, and local residents.
The mayor congratulated the Brotherhood and its collaborators for organizing the events and praised the author for the presented work.
"The presentation of the poster announces the approach of the patronal festivities," noted José Alberto Armijo, who reiterated the support of the Town Hall to the Brotherhood and encouraged locals and visitors to participate in the events and enjoy the Nerja Fair 2026.
During the presentation, the upcoming religious services and celebrations were also announced. The mass and transfer procession will take place on 26 September; the Triduum will be celebrated at the Church of El Salvador on 2, 3, and 4 October; and the procession of the Patron Saints will occur on 10 October.
