The Nerja Town Hall will install a commemorative plaque on the façade of number 26 Granada Street, the artist's family home, on the 25th anniversary of his passing. The initiative was promoted by his nieces Catalina and Beatriz Ramos.
The Local Government Board of Nerja authorised in its last session the installation of a commemorative plaque on the façade of number 26 Granada Street, the family home of Ramiro Ramos, to recognise his role in the creation and establishment of the Children's Painting Studio in 1969. The placement coincides with the 25th anniversary of his death and the initiative came from his nieces, Catalina and Beatriz Ramos.
The plaque is made of tiles and includes a photograph of the artist and an inscription that recalls his connection with Nerja and his career as the founder and first director of the Children's Painting Studio.
“With this recognition, the people of Nerja and his family keep alive the memory of a person who left a profound mark on the cultural and educational life of our town. Ramiro Ramos dedicated his knowledge, experience, and passion for painting to generations of children in Nerja, significantly contributing to the development of their creativity and artistic sensitivity.”
This was highlighted by the Deputy Mayor, Alberto Tomé, and the Councillor for Culture, Ana María Muñoz.
The Children's Painting Studio was founded in 1969 as an initiative of Ramiro Ramos. The Town Council unanimously approved its creation on March 7 of that year, making it the first and only one of its kind in the province of Málaga. Since its inception, it has maintained its activities uninterruptedly to this day.
The plaque will be affixed to the façade of the family home at number 26 Granada Street, once authorised by the Local Government Board.
