The Town Hall of Mijas now pays its invoices in an average of 23.71 days, below the legal limit of 30 days for the second consecutive month. The council also approved 4.25 million euros for the connection of Mijas Pueblo to the 'water highway'.
The Town Hall of Mijas closed September with an average payment period to suppliers of 23.71 days, the lowest figure in the last 11 years. The mayor, Ana Mata, and the councillor for Economy, Mario Bravo, reported this figure during the ordinary council meeting held this Wednesday, during the mandatory reporting of the Treasury report.
The indicator is below the 30 days set by law for the second consecutive month, something that did not occur at any point during the 2019-2023 term, when the figure always remained above the legal limit.
The councillor for Economy attributed the decrease to the organisation of municipal management implemented by the governing team, with the creation of the Budget Management and Accounting Body in September 2025 as the main measure. Bravo also pointed out the annual approval of budgets and the implementation of electronic administration among the reasons for the result.

The council also approved a budget modification of extraordinary credit for 4,250,000 euros to connect Mijas Pueblo with the so-called 'water highway', the high-pressure network that replaces pipes over 40 years old on the Costa del Sol. The allocation will cover part of the construction of a pumping pipe that starts from the El Lagarejo reservoir and ends at the regulating reservoir of the village quarry.
The work is contracted by Acosol, the public company dependent on the Association of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol, which also finances part of the work. The modification was approved with votes in favour from the governing team and the municipal group of Ciudadanos, and against from the PSOE.
In the same council, two motions of support for the people of Ceuta were approved, presented by the PP and VOX groups, and a third on the same issue registered by the PSOE was rejected.
