The Arrhythmia Unit at the Clinical Hospital of Málaga has surpassed 1,600 annual procedures, positioning itself as a reference in cardiac rhythm disorders in the region. This service provides care to over a million residents and is part of the Virgen de la Victoria university hospital complex.
Notable Care Activity
Since its establishment in 1992, this unit has developed an intense activity that includes specialized diagnosis and treatment. During the year 2025, the unit performed 637 catheter ablations, 345 pacemaker implants, and 323 defibrillators, in addition to other electrophysiological procedures.
Daily, between 10 and 12 patients attend arrhythmia consultations, while 15 come for follow-ups of pacemakers and defibrillators. Additionally, around a hundred remote monitoring transmissions are analysed, and follow-ups are conducted for over 4,000 patients with cardiac devices.
Cutting-edge Technology and Training
The unit has two electrophysiology laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art technology, allowing for advanced procedures such as radiofrequency, cryoablation, and electroporation. This reflects the commitment of a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality specialized care.
On the occasion of World Heart Day, the Cardiology unit has organized educational activities for patients and families. These sessions aim to inform about the use and follow-ups of cardiac devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators, thus facilitating access to information and resolving doubts.
