The parking area next to the Bulevar de La Cala de Mijas will bring together around ten stalls of Cuban food and crafts from October 1 to 4, with live music and children's activities on Sunday.
La Cala de Mijas will host the first edition of the gastro-cultural festival 'Little Cuba' from October 1 to 4, an event organised by the Cubanos Unidos association in collaboration with the Ayuntamiento de Mijas. The event will take place in the parking area next to the Bulevar and will feature around ten stalls offering food and crafts typical of the Caribbean country.
The councillor for Public Roads, Melisa Ceballos, and the president of Cubanos Unidos, Mónica Delgado, presented the details of this initiative on Friday, which arrives in the municipality after having taken place in other locations along the Costa del Sol.
The culinary offerings will include dishes such as tamales and roasted pork, as well as cocktails, with a special focus on mojitos. Attendees will also be able to purchase Cuban handicrafts at the stalls set up for the occasion.
Live music and entertainment will be present throughout the four days, featuring a DJ. Sunday will be reserved for the little ones, with children's games, a carousel, and special non-alcoholic drinks.
The hours will be from 12:00 to 00:00 on Thursday and Sunday, while on Friday and Saturday the event will extend until one in the morning.
“It is an example of the multiculturalism that exists in Mijas,” said the councillor during the presentation.
The event aims to promote Cuban culture among locals and visitors in a coastal area that will feature a continuous programme of activities during those days.
