Mayor Ana Mata has announced that Mijeña journalist Mari Carmen Jaime will be the speaker for the Mijas Fair 2026. The event will take place on September 6 at the Miguel González Berral auditorium.

Mijeña journalist Mari Carmen Jaime will be responsible for delivering the opening speech for the Mijas Fair 2026. The municipality's mayor, Ana Mata, revealed this Wednesday the selection after welcoming the speaker at the Town Hall.

The event will take place on September 6 at 21:00 hours at the Miguel González Berral auditorium in Mijas Pueblo, with free entry until capacity is reached.

Mata highlighted Jaime's profile as a Mijeña deeply rooted in the locality. "Mari Carmen represents our city's values better than anyone. She is a young professional who always carries Mijas with pride, so she will undoubtedly do a great job as the speaker," the mayor stated.

The journalist, a resident of the Barrio de Santana, confessed to feeling very excited about giving the speech, as she has experienced the fair since childhood. "It is exciting to talk about an event that is deeply rooted in my life and that of my family. I hope to live up to expectations and that everyone enjoys what I have to say about the fair of my town," she assured.

Career linked to Mijas

Mari Carmen Jaime was born in 1985 in the heart of Mijas Pueblo, in the Barrio de Santana, and from a young age, she was clear about her journalistic vocation. Since 2007, she has worked in various media outlets, always with a presence in the locality, until she joined the institutional press area in 2018.

Since last May, she has been responsible for the editions of the new newspaper Viva Mijas and Viva Benalmádena, thus reviving print journalism and recounting the current affairs of her municipality.

Very connected to traditions, she is a member of the Brotherhood of the Most Holy Christ of the Column, an association with which she collaborates and participates in every Holy Week since she can remember. She also dances in the UP group directed by Víctor Rojas and, although she has lived in various places, she always carries her town with pride.

In addition to being the speaker at this year's fair, she has also designed the poster for the Barrio Santana fair of this edition and was chosen Miss Facebook at the Mijas fair in 2013.

The Mijas Fair 2026 will be held from September 3 to 6, and the opening speech will mark the start of highly anticipated festive days for locals and visitors.
