Midfielder Álvaro Fidalgo joins the Betis pre-season training camp in Marbella this Monday, while Cucho Hernández will do so in Dublin and Giovani Lo Celso later in Seville.
Real Betis Balompié resumes pre-season this week with the staggered arrival of the three internationals who had not yet joined training after participating in the World Cup. The first to arrive will be midfielder Álvaro Fidalgo, who integrates into the training camp that the green-and-white team is holding in Marbella on Monday, July 27.
Fidalgo, 29, concluded his participation in the World Cup on July 6, when Mexico was eliminated in the round of 16 by England (2-3). Since then, he has enjoyed a period of rest before rejoining the dynamics of the team led by Manuel Pellegrini.
The training camp in Marbella will last until Saturday, August 1, and will serve for Betis to continue their preparations ahead of the start of LaLiga, scheduled for Friday, August 21. During this week, the Betis team will play two friendlies: on Wednesday, July 29, they will face Olympique de Lyon in La Línea (8:00 PM) and on Saturday, August 1, they will take on Almería, also at the Ciudad de La Línea stadium (8:00 PM).
The next to join will be Colombian forward Cucho Hernández, who is expected to do so on Monday, August 3, just as Betis begins the final pre-season stage in Dublin. Cucho, who also participated in the World Cup with Colombia until the round of 16 (they were eliminated by Switzerland on penalties on July 7), will join the group in Ireland, where the team will face Arsenal on Wednesday, August 5 (7:30 PM).
Finally, Giovani Lo Celso, who went the furthest in the tournament, will join on Monday, August 10, already in Seville. The Argentine played in the World Cup final on July 19, where Argentina lost 1-0 to Spain in extra time, although his participation was minimal: he only played the last match of the group stage against Jordan, in which he scored a goal. His return will occur once the seven pre-season friendlies are completed, although a final match is not ruled out to finalize preparations before the league debut.
Betis will kick off LaLiga on Friday, August 21, at the La Cartuja stadium against Real Sociedad. Subsequently, the team will travel to Valencia to face Valencia on Tuesday, August 25, and Levante on Saturday, August 29, both in the capital of Turia.
Betis's presence in Marbella is an incentive for Malaga fans, who will be able to closely follow the preparation of the green-and-white team during this week. The coastal city has become a regular pre-season destination for top-level clubs, and this year it hosts Betis at a key stage of their preparation.
With the arrivals of Fidalgo, Cucho Hernández, and Lo Celso, Pellegrini will have the entire squad available to tackle the final stretch of pre-season and the league start. The Chilean coach aims to continue the project and improve on last season's records, in which the team finished in sixth place and qualified for the Europa League.
