The mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz, presided over the awarding of 50 diplomas from the Activa Marbella programme, which combines training and healthy leisure for young people.
The Cortijo Miraflores Cultural Centre hosted the ceremony on Wednesday, where fifty diplomas were awarded to young participants in the municipal Activa Marbella programme. Mayor Ángeles Muñoz presided over the event, highlighting the value of this initiative in promoting training and healthy leisure among the youth of the municipality.
During the event, the mayor congratulated the attendees for their effort and commitment, emphasising that the programme, driven by the Social Rights department, “provides tools for attendees to develop a vocation and even access a job”. Muñoz pointed out that behind each certificate “there is a story of dedication, enthusiasm, and well-spent time”.
This edition of Activa Marbella has included a varied training offer. Among the courses offered, the Aquatic Lifeguarding course, conducted in collaboration with the Red Cross, has enabled young people to acquire knowledge to act in emergencies and obtain a recognised qualification with job opportunities. In fact, some participants have already found employment thanks to this training.
Workshops on video game development using Roblox and Unity have also been held, where young people worked on aspects such as programming, design, creativity, and teamwork. In total, seven courses were offered, with 150 participants, as detailed by the mayor.
Muñoz was accompanied at the event by the councillors for Social Rights, Isabel Cintado, and Youth, Alejandro González. The mayor reaffirmed the municipal commitment to such programmes: “From the City Council, we will continue to support actions like Activa Marbella, because we believe that the best way to prevent is to offer opportunities to learn, to connect, to discover talents, and to make positive use of time”.
The mayor announced that the initiative will be improved for next year, with the aim of continuing to offer Marbella's youth training and leisure alternatives that contribute to their personal and professional development. The Activa Marbella programme is part of the summer programming of the Youth department and aims to combat boredom and inactivity during the summer months.
The diploma awarding ceremony was an emotional event, where young people expressed their satisfaction with the knowledge acquired. Many highlighted the usefulness of the courses, especially the lifeguarding course, which has opened doors for them in the job market. The Marbella City Council plans to maintain and expand this training offer in future editions.
