The Fuengirola City Council encourages associations in the municipality to apply for international cooperation grants from the Provincial Council of Málaga, amounting to 538,000 euros. The deadline is September 18.

Associations in Fuengirola working in international development cooperation have until September 18 to apply for one of the grants opened by the Provincial Council of Málaga, which are endowed with 538,000 euros. The Fuengirola City Council has disseminated the call among the entities in the municipality.

The provincial deputy and councillor of the Fuengirola City Council, Francisco José Martín, has detailed that the call is divided into three lines. The first funds cooperation projects for sustainable development, with a maximum of 59,999 euros per project. The second, with the same cap, covers humanitarian actions and human rights.

The third line is aimed at education projects for sustainable development and global citizenship, and in this case, the maximum aid per initiative is 20,000 euros.

“A few days ago, the call for aid for international development cooperation aimed at NGOs and associations based in the province of Málaga and working with developing countries was opened,” explained Martín.

The councillor cited Cooperación Honduras as an example, an entity that operates in Fuengirola and nearby municipalities and which has previously received funding for projects to improve the quality of life in the Central American country.

“We hope that there are entities interested in applying for these grants, especially due to the purpose they pursue, which is none other than to help those who reside in developing countries,” he noted.

NGOs and associations with their registered office in the province of Málaga can apply. Information about the call is available on the Provincial Council's website (malaga.es), in the section of the Cooperation Delegation.
