A man has been injured by gunfire in the abdomen and leg in a shooting that occurred on Tuesday afternoon in the parking lot of the Sonora beach bar, in the coastal area between Estepona and Marbella. The National Police are investigating the events.

The National Police have opened an investigation to clarify the shooting that took place on Tuesday afternoon in the parking lot of the Sonora beach bar, in the coastal strip between Estepona and Marbella, which left a man injured by gunfire in the abdomen and leg.

According to the emergency service 112 Andalucía, alert calls began to arrive around 5:30 PM. Several witnesses reported hearing a succession of gunshots in the vicinity of the Hacienda Beach urbanisation and specified that a person was lying on the ground, collapsed and bleeding.

Emergency medical personnel, as well as patrols from the National Police and Local Police, arrived at the scene to assist the injured man and secure the area. The man was transported to a hospital, although his exact health status is currently unknown.

Consulted sources indicate that the alleged authors of the gunfire fled the scene in a dark-coloured vehicle. The Local Police are trying to locate this car, while the investigation has been handed over to the National Police. The same sources indicate that the shooters may have acted with hoods, a detail that will need to be confirmed by the investigation.

The incident has caused considerable shock among the residents of the Hacienda Beach urbanisation and the customers of the Sonora beach bar, who have seen their afternoon interrupted in a usual area for walking and leisure. The National Police have requested citizen collaboration to provide any information that may help identify those responsible.

This shooting adds to other violent episodes that have occurred in recent months on the Costa del Sol, an area that, despite its tourist nature, is not immune to crime. Authorities have reinforced police presence in the area and are awaiting the results of the investigation to determine the motivations behind the attack.

So far, no arrests have been made, nor has the identity of the victim been disclosed. The investigation remains open, and more details about what happened are expected to emerge in the coming hours.
