Director Santi Amodeo will teach the script course for adults, and Goya winner Pepe Domínguez del Olmo will give talks at schools in Manilva, Estepona, and San Pedro Alcántara. Ten productions will compete in fiction and documentary.
The New Andalusian Cinema Festival of Casares has already outlined part of its programming for the edition that will take place from October 2 to 10. With a few weeks to go before the start, the organisation has confirmed the professionals who will participate in the training aspect and the titles that will compete in the official sections.
Seville director and screenwriter Santi Amodeo will be responsible for the adult training course, focused on script construction. Students from various parts of Spain will work on designing and developing a story under the guidance of the filmmaker, known for titles such as The Pilgrim Factor, Astronauts, Who Killed Bambi?, and The Gentle Ones.
The training will also reach younger audiences. Pepe Domínguez del Olmo, winner of the Goya Award for Best Art Direction for his work in films like The Minimum Island and Model 77, will offer talks aimed at secondary and high school students from Manilva, Estepona, and San Pedro Alcántara.
In the competitive sections, five productions will compete in the fiction category: Iván and Hadoum, Pioneers, Quantum Rave, The Open Window, and Auri. Another five works will vie for the best documentary award: Enlorquecido, Like Every Mortal, The Wonder That Bites Its Tail, Caballero Bonald: Fragments of a Navigator, and The Prior.
These proposals are joined by the 19 short films selected for the official section, which will be screened during the first days at the Blas Infante Cultural Centre.
Before the official start of the festival, Casares will once again become a set with a new edition of the Corto Exprés competition, which will take place from September 25 to 27. Participating teams will need to devise, shoot, and edit their works within a limited time using the streets of the municipality as a backdrop. The resulting works will then be screened as part of the festival's programming.
The organisation will soon announce the complete programme and other news for this edition.
