The Casares New Andalusian Cinema Festival has announced its 13th edition, which will take place from October 2 to 10 with a programme of film, training, photography, and professional meetings. The competitive section includes five feature films, five documentaries, and 19 short films.
The event kicks off before the official inauguration. The Cortos Exprés will be held from September 25 to 27 with 33 teams and 184 registered participants, the highest participation to date. Participants will have 48 hours to conceive, shoot, and edit their works using Casares as the backdrop.
Two of the selected documentaries will premiere: La Priora, by Jaime Daza, and Caballero Bonald. Fragments of a Navigator, by Paula Romero.
Training will again play a significant role. Director and screenwriter Santi Amodeo will conduct the adult course, which has already filled all its places. The two-time Goya award winner Pepe Domínguez del Olmo will introduce art direction to secondary and high school students from Manilva, Estepona, and San Pedro Alcántara.
The Councillor for Culture, Andrés Morales, participated in the presentation alongside the festival director, Javier Martos, and the programming manager, José Antonio Valencia.
“After thirteen editions, the festival has established itself as one of the most distinctive cultural proposals in the municipality,” noted Morales, reaffirming the Casares Town Hall commitment to culture and Andalusian creators.
The complete programme will take place from October 2 to 10 and will also include photography, professional meetings, and activities related to film creation.
