The Benalmádena Costa Exhibition Centre hosts a free exhibition until December 18 featuring string instruments from different cultures, with flamenco as the common thread.
The Benalmádena Costa Exhibition Centre has opened its doors to 'String Theory', an exhibition that brings together string instruments from various eras and cultures around the world. The exhibition, which is free to enter, will be open until December 18.
The mayor of Benalmádena, Juan Antonio Lara, and the Councillor for Culture, Jésica Trujillo, inaugurated the exhibition alongside the centre's director, Itziar Merino, and the curator, Pepe Zapata. The event included a guided tour and a flamenco concert by Luis 'El Salao' in the Olé square.
The exhibition is organised by Guitar FabLab, a research and creation laboratory founded in 2018 at the Science Park of Granada, dedicated to the study of the guitar. It brings together historical and contemporary pieces that engage in dialogue between instrumental traditions from around the world.
During the inauguration, the mayor highlighted that the initiative allows us to "get closer to instruments from different cultures and eras" and, at the same time, establish "a link with something so ours and so tied to our identity as flamenco". He also emphasised that the centre "once again demonstrates its ability to offer a varied, innovative, and high-quality cultural programme".
For her part, Jésica Trujillo appreciated that the exhibition "invites us to discover music from a different perspective" and turns the instrument into "a meeting point between cultures, traditions, and different ways of understanding artistic creation".
'String Theory' will be the last exhibition of the year at the Benalmádena Costa Exhibition Centre. The mayor recalled the "excellent year" for the space, with proposals such as 'Synesthesia' by Bosska, or 'Experience the Universe from Málaga', and assured that "we want to continue consolidating the centre as a cultural reference in the Costa del Sol".
The exhibition will remain open until December 18 with free entry, allowing locals and visitors to discover the diversity of string instruments and their connection to flamenco.
