The Metropolitan Transport Consortium will add 188,232 extra seats from August 15 to 22 to reach the Cortijo de Torres, with a new route to Almogía and expansions on three lines.
The Metropolitan Transport Consortium of Málaga will launch a special operation with 188,232 additional seats for the Málaga Fair, which will take place from August 15 to 22. The territorial delegate for Development and Mobility of the Junta in Málaga, María Rosa Morales, indicated that this figure nearly doubles that of the previous year.
The aim is to facilitate travel from the municipalities of the province to the Cortijo de Torres, where the fairgrounds are located. Morales urged residents to opt for public transport and leave their private cars, in line with the ongoing debate about the cost of the bus during the event.
The main novelty will be the new route between the fairgrounds and Almogía, which will operate from August 17 to 22 with six daily single journeys. This connection is in addition to the existing lines that link the capital with various points in the province.
Furthermore, three intercity lines will be expanded. The M-429 (Málaga Fair-Coín-Alhaurín el Grande) will have six additional journeys each day throughout the operation. The M-424, which reaches Alhaurín de la Torre and Pinos de Alhaurín, will add two daily journeys. And the M-426, heading to Fuengirola and Las Lagunas de Mijas, will add one daily single journey.
The schedules have been designed to cover both daytime departures and late-night returns. The network will connect the fairgrounds with Benalmádena Costa, Rincón de la Victoria, Torremolinos, Las Lagunas de Mijas, and Fuengirola, among other municipalities.
This reinforcement is complemented by increased frequencies from the EMT, which will incorporate 34 new buses on the busiest routes, and by extending the operating hours of the Málaga Metro during the Fair, which will run until 2:30 AM on the opening night.
