The inclusive leisure programme by the Red Cross and the Benalmádena Town Hall concludes its 2026 edition with a picnic in Malapesquera. The initiative assisted 47 people and made 72 transfers with a municipal grant of €14,000.
The programme 'Enjoy the Beach' 2026, driven by Red Cross in collaboration with the Benalmádena Town Hall, closed this Tuesday its edition with a picnic-brunch on the beach of Malapesquera attended by users, families, and volunteers who participated during the summer.
During its operational months, the programme assisted 47 users and made 72 transfers to accessible beach areas, in addition to around 2,000 individual mobilisations to facilitate participation in bathing sessions. The initiative was particularly aimed at people with reduced mobility and provided accompaniment, guidance, and support tailored to each need.
Red Cross allocated a team of seven people, two technicians and five volunteers, who contributed over 200 hours of volunteering. Throughout the sessions, workshops on sun protection and risk prevention during bathing and in wave situations were conducted, and fruit and soft drinks were provided daily to participants.
The Councillor for Social Welfare and Families, Áurea Peralta, highlighted the inclusive nature of the proposal.
“Inclusion also means being able to enjoy our city, our beaches, and leisure time with as much autonomy as possible. That is the spirit of 'Enjoy the Beach': to eliminate barriers and offer the necessary support so that everyone can enjoy these spaces on equal terms”
Peralta also thanked the work of the entity and its volunteers.
“We want to thank Red Cross, its professionals, and especially all the volunteers who dedicated their time and effort to accompany the users. Their involvement was crucial for this programme to successfully take place once again this summer”
The programme received a municipal grant of €14,000 and was part of the actions of the Social Welfare and Families Area to promote autonomy, inclusion, and social participation for its users.
