Investment in employment policies

The Junta de Andalucía has allocated a total of 14.5 million euros to employment policies in Alhaurín de la Torre since 2019. The delegate for Employment, Business and Self-Employment, Carmen Sánchez Sierra, indicated that the aim of this investment is to improve professional qualifications and facilitate job insertion in the municipality.

Training and employment programmes

During a visit to the ongoing Employment and Training courses, which benefit 60 unemployed individuals, Sánchez Sierra highlighted that of the total investment, 5.2 million euros have been allocated to training. This action has allowed 300 people to participate in programmes aimed at acquiring professional skills.

The delegate also emphasized that Alhaurín de la Torre has shown positive evolution in its labour market. Currently, it has 1,047 registered companies with Social Security, making it the twelfth municipality with the highest number of companies in the province of Málaga.

Since July 2019, nearly 2,000 people have joined the Social Security affiliation system, reaching over 11,000 contributors, demonstrating the effectiveness of the implemented employment policies.

The training programmes currently underway cover in-demand sectors and combine theoretical training with professional practice through 12-month contracts. The mayor, Joaquín Villanova, detailed that the initiatives include training in masonry, coating operation, and agricultural and decorative activities, aimed at different age groups.

Carmen Sánchez Sierra concluded by reaffirming the commitment of the Junta de Andalucía to the development of active policies that generate employment opportunities and the importance of training tailored to the needs of the labour market.
