The Culture Area of the Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall and the Helarte Association announce the fifth edition of the competition, which will take place on October 24 in Benagalbón. Registrations are open until September 27 and will distribute €1,200 in prizes.

Non-professional theatre groups from Rincón de la Victoria and other municipalities can now register for the V EnBreve Microtheatre Competition, organised by the Culture Area of the Town Hall and the Helarte Cultural Association. The event will be held on October 24 at the Folklore Interpretation Centre of Benagalbón.

The competition will select a maximum of six proposals and distribute €1,200 in prizes: €600 for the first place, €400 for the second, and €200 for the third. As a new feature of this edition, the selected companies will receive assistance for travel expenses ranging from €100 to €200, depending on their area of residence.

Aficionados aged between 13 and 90, including students of acting and stage direction, may participate. The plays must last between five and 15 minutes, be in Spanish, and cover free themes, although stand-up monologues are excluded. Original works will be especially valued. Each performance may include a maximum of three actors or actresses and one person for technical functions.

The registration period remains open until September 27, 2026, at 23:59 via the form provided by the organisation. Groups may submit multiple works, but only one of them can be selected. The organisation will communicate the chosen and unchosen proposals via email between October 1 and 2, and the selected participants must confirm their attendance within three days of notification.

The jury will consist of a representative from the Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall, a representative from Helarte, and a person linked to the artistic and theatrical field. The performance space at the centre has an opening of five metres, three metres deep, and three metres high.

The Councillor for Culture, Paz Couto, has encouraged groups and enthusiasts to participate in this new edition.

“EnBreve promotes the short format and the ability to tell a story in a few minutes. We want the competition to once again be a meeting point for amateur groups and, at the same time, an opportunity to enjoy different theatrical proposals in the same space,” she stated.

The Mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado, has highlighted support for initiatives that bring culture and the performing arts closer to the public, stating that amateur theatre fosters cultural participation and values emerging stage talent.

The president of the Helarte Cultural Association, Belén Santamaría, explained that the initiative aims to give visibility to those who do not engage in this activity professionally.

“The initiative seeks to give visibility to theatre lovers who do not engage in this activity professionally, including students of acting and stage direction, providing them with a space to showcase their ideas and work,” she affirmed.

Interested individuals can consult the complete rules and contact Helarte via the association's email. Confirmation of the selected groups and the allocation of the six spots will be finalised in the first days of October.
