The second edition of San Diego Comic-Con Málaga will double its area to 19,600 square metres and introduce a seat reservation system in the auditoriums to avoid the queues from last year.

The second edition of San Diego Comic-Con Málaga (SDCCM) is taking shape. The event, which will take place from 1 to 4 October at the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Málaga (Fycma), will expand its exhibition space from last year's 10,800 square metres to 19,600 square metres with the addition of a second pavilion of 8,800 square metres, as detailed by the organisation this Thursday at a press conference held at the Museum of Automobiles and Fashion (MAM), as reported by Diario Sur.

The new space, which is already being constructed in the Fycma parking area, will host 90 stands for artists, brands, and collectors. The organisation is maintaining the same 90,000 tickets for sale as last year, which means 22,500 attendees per day. As of today, there are still passes available for all days on the official website.

To avoid the crowds and complaints from the inaugural edition, the organisation has implemented an online seat reservation system in the four auditoriums, including Hall M, which has a capacity of 3,000 people. Reservations will be active from 25 September and will require not only having a ticket but also being registered on the fan portal, where each user can mark their priority agenda. The full programme can already be consulted on the website from this Thursday.

The new director of the event, Fernando Piquer, wanted to send a message of reassurance to fans following last year's issues: "In March we told you that we wanted to listen to you, work with humility, and create a Comic-Con designed for those who would experience it, the fans. Today, with just over two weeks to go before we open the doors, I can tell you that it is now a reality. I don't want to say that the work is done or that we have succeeded, because you will tell us that. But we do want to share that that idea has transformed into a tangible reality."

The programme will include over 300 hours of content featuring names from sagas such as 'The Lord of the Rings', 'One Piece', 'Mallrats', 'Starship Troopers', 'MacGyver', and 'Los Serrano'. Among the latest confirmed guests are Paul Bettany with the premiere of the Disney+ series 'VisionQuest', actress Aya Cash (Stormfront in 'The Boys'), voice actor Charles Martinet (Mario Bros), illustrators Kenny Ruiz and Jordi Lafebre, and miniature painter Ángel Giráldez. However, there will not be a major guest to replace Arnold Schwarzenegger, a detail that the organisation has not clarified.

The event was attended by the mayor of Málaga, Francisco De La Torre; the second vice president and Tourism advisor of the Junta de Andalucía, Manuel Gavira; the advisor for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Development and Public Administration, José Antonio Nieto Ballesteros; the southern territorial director of BBVA, Francisco Javier Jerez Basurco; the southern territorial director of Telefónica, Joaquín Segovia; and the delegated councillor for the Area of Innovation, Alicia Izquierdo, among other authorities.
