Over 130 educational centres in Málaga have participated in the ‘ComunicA’ programme aimed at improving students' language skills. This initiative, framed within the strategy of the Ministry of Education, has encompassed various activities during the past school year 25-26.
Activities of the ‘ComunicA’ programme
The Minister of Education, María del Carmen Castillo, has highlighted the positive impact of initiatives such as school radio and debate tournaments that have generated great interest among students. Furthermore, she emphasized that the programme includes the development of media and audiovisual literacy, aligning with new languages and the current digital context.
Within the framework of the programme, educational centres have planned systematic and assessable activities focusing on oral skills, functional and creative reading and writing, as well as audiovisual literacy, which includes critical understanding and the creation of audiovisual products.
Educational Debate and teacher training
A significant element of the programme is the Educational Debate, which has led to the celebration of the V Educational Debate Tournament of Andalucía. This tournament, held in Spanish, English, and French, is formative and non-competitive, becoming a valuable tool for teachers by contributing to the comprehensive training of students.
School radios also play an important role in promoting educational programmes related to communication and reading. In the last academic year, 93 public educational centres in Málaga implemented this activity. This action will be reinforced with the creation of the Network of Schoolchildren of Andalucía (REdA).
For the next academic year, the Ministry of Education has prepared a specific call for the ‘ComunicA’ programme. The registration period opens from September 1 to 30, allowing all educational centres to participate. Training courses for teachers and meetings on best practices will also be offered.
Additionally, the Ministry continues with the ‘Abecedaria’ programme, which organizes activities for audience training and which last year offered 256 performances to students from 500 public educational centres in Andalucía.
