The city of Málaga is preparing to experience nine days of celebration in honour of its patron saint, the Virgin of Victory. The 2026 edition will kick off on the afternoon of Friday, August 14, with the Historical Parade, followed by a drone show at 23:50 and a pyromusical display at midnight in the Port of Málaga.
On Saturday, August 15, the Pilgrimage of the Virgin of Victory will take place in the morning, and at the Real de Cortijo de Torres, the opening speech by Juanfran Funes, the coach who led Málaga CF to promotion to the First Division, will be at 21:30, just before the lighting ceremony.
The festivities will continue until Saturday, August 22, featuring the traditional programme of booths, attractions, concerts, and activities for all audiences.
A poster chosen by the people of Málaga
The official poster for this edition, titled 'Flowers for Victory', is the work of artist Patricia Castro Bohórquez. The proposal was selected through a participatory process promoted by the Málaga City Council's Festival Department, where it received 38% of nearly 7,000 valid votes cast.
The design references the Virgin of Victory, the city's patron saint, and the festive and visual symbols that identify the celebration during August.
Where to experience the fair
The Málaga Fair takes place in two large areas with distinct atmospheres. The Historic Centre concentrates daytime activities, with performances of verdiales, music in squares, folk proposals, and family activities at locations such as Larios Street, Constitution Square, Merced Square, Flowers Square, and Peña Juan Breva.
The Real de Cortijo de Torres takes over in the afternoon and evening. This venue hosts the booths, the attractions area, the Municipal Auditorium, the Verdiales Booth, the children's area, the Equestrian Exhibition Centre, and the Youth Esplanade. There are also daytime activities, such as horse and carriage rides.
The 2026 edition will feature more than 120 booths, including clubs, associations, entities, hospitality establishments, and municipal booths. One of the unique features is that all are freely accessible, with no need for membership to enter.
Local holiday and programming
The city's work calendar designates Wednesday, August 19 as a local holiday, coinciding with the historical date of Málaga's incorporation into the Crown of Castile, which is commemorated each year. Many non-essential shops and workplaces will be closed that day.
The complete programme includes traditional events, family shows, verdiales, flamenco, equestrian activities, and entertainment proposals spread across the Historic Centre and the Real. The free concerts at the Municipal Auditorium will once again be one of the major attractions for residents and visitors.
For those wishing to enjoy the fair with children, the children's area at the Real offers activities designed for the little ones, while the Youth Esplanade hosts nightlife entertainment for the younger audience.
