The Historic Centre will host activities until 18:00, with a new monumental entrance on Calle Larios inspired by the Cathedral and La Farola, and the Magic Fair celebrates its 30th anniversary.
The Málaga Fair 2026 already has a programme for the Historic Centre, which this year unveils a monumental entrance on Calle Larios standing 16.30 metres tall. The structure incorporates replicas of the Cathedral and La Farola, with green and purple fan-shaped sides, the colours of the city’s flag, and details of verdiales ribbons and biznagas. The setting will be completed with 16,200 lanterns that will illuminate the route.
The Councillor for Operational Services, Beaches and Festivals, Teresa Porras, presented the programme accompanied by representatives from the Málaga Hoteliers Association (Mahos), Mahou San Miguel, the Historic Centre Association, and the Cultural Association Zegrí. The offerings will be spread across several stages and squares, with daily performances from 13:00 to 18:00 in the squares of Constitución, Las Flores, del Obispo, and San Pedro Alcántara.
Calle Larios will feature a permanent stage for traditional Málaga folklore between 12:00 and 17:00, with dance groups and choirs. Almost all the artists participating in the Centre are from Málaga, as highlighted by the City Council. Additionally, each day, from 13:00 to 17:00, groups of verdiales will perform in the three styles of the province: Montes, Almogía, and Comares, thanks to the Provincial Federation of Verdiales Pandas.
Flamenco will have its space at Peña Juan Breva, located at Calle Ramón Franquelo 4, where from 15 to 22 August there will be daily performances of singing, guitar, and flamenco shows starting at 15:00 and 16:30, featuring local artists. The Magic Fair, celebrating its 30th anniversary, will take place in Plaza de la Merced from 16 to 22 August, from 12:00 to 15:30, under the slogan ‘From the Earth to the Moon’, with games, workshops, theatre, puppets, parades, magic, music, and an ecological carousel.
The official opening will be on Friday 14 August with the Historical Parade of the Cultural Association Zegrí, which will depart at 20:00 from Plaza de la Merced and will deliver the keys at the Customs House at 20:30. That night, the port will host a drone show at 23:50 and a pyromusical display at midnight. The following day, Saturday 15, the Pilgrimage to the Basilica of Victoria will take place, with a gathering of carriages at Paseo del Parque at 10:00 and departure at 11:00. The Málaga actress María Barranco will be the flag bearer and will carry the municipal flag throughout the route.
For residents and visitors of the province, the Fair in the Centre offers a daytime and family-friendly alternative, with activities extending until 18:00, before the festivities move to the Cortijo de Torres fairground. The new entrance on Larios, visible throughout the fair, becomes one of the main attractions for tourism and for those wishing to photograph the festive atmosphere.
