The Málaga City Council has made public the decree that will regulate the Málaga Fair 2026, which will be held from August 15 to 22. Mayor Francisco de la Torre has presented the updates, among which stands out the prohibition of selling ice outside booths or authorised stalls, with special attention to the carts operating in the area designated for drinking, within the Youth Area.
The decree also prohibits setting up elements such as tables, bars, or counters on public roads to sell drinks without authorisation, a common practice in that same area. Those who violate this will face penalties.
Free access and security measures
It is reminded that access to the booths in the Fairgrounds, both in the family area and the youth area, will be free and open. It is prohibited to require an invitation, purchase, or any type of payment to enter or re-enter.
Regarding security, the Local Police will be able to conduct checks to prevent the carrying of weapons, pyrotechnic devices, or objects that could be used for assault. They will also be able to confiscate containers and bottles when it is suspected they could be used for prohibited conduct, and will monitor the sale of bulk alcohol in unauthorised containers.
Additionally, it is prohibited for tombolas, attractions, and street vendors to give away or sell simulated weapons, knives, bows, arrows, or sharp objects, as well as megaphones that imitate emergency service sounds. Non-compliance will result in confiscation.
Heat recommendations and combating misinformation
The Fair coincides with the activation period of the Andalusian Protocol against high temperatures, so the decree urges the public to follow advice such as staying hydrated, wearing light clothing, and seeking shaded areas, paying special attention to the elderly and vulnerable groups.
The mayor also calls for responsibility to avoid spreading false information that could cause alarm, asking that information be shared rigorously and referring to official sources.
Timings for the Centre and Real Fair
Regarding timings, the Centre Fair will open from 12:00 to 18:00, with music stopping at that hour, except inside licensed establishments. The booths in the Fairgrounds will open from 14:00 and close at 6:00, extending to 7:00 on holidays and the day before. The booths in the youth area will close at 7:00 daily.
The final closure will be on August 22 at 18:00 in the Centre and on August 23 at 7:00 in the Real. It is reminded that the sale of drinks for consumption outside authorised establishments remains prohibited.
For attendees, the recommendation is to arrive early, stay hydrated, and respect the rules to enjoy a safe and pleasant fair.
