Málaga CF's Juan Francisco Funes Announced as the Announcer for the Málaga Fair 2026

Málaga CF coach Juan Francisco Funes has been officially named the announcer for the Málaga Fair 2026. The announcement will be on August 15.

The Málaga City Council has welcomed the coach of Málaga CF, who will deliver the announcement on August 15 in front of the Real Cortijo de Torres.

The coach of Málaga CF, Juan Francisco Funes, received this afternoon in the Hall of Mirrors at the City Council the official appointment as the announcer for the Málaga Fair 2026. The mayor, Francisco de la Torre, and the councillor for Festivals, Teresa Porras, presided over the event, which was also attended by representatives of the sponsoring entities of the fair, San Miguel and El Corte Inglés.

The event will take place on the night of the first Saturday of the fair, August 15, just before the traditional lighting of the Real Cortijo de Torres. Funes will address the people of Málaga from a stage that will be set up in front of the main entrance, in an event that will kick off the official festivities.

The mayor had already announced on July 26 the selection of Funes, who will balance the announcement with the pre-season of the team, which competes in La Liga EA Sports following the promotion achieved last season.

A Career Linked to Málaga

Juan Francisco Funes, originally from Loja, began his coaching career in his hometown and later managed El Palo in the Third Division. In 2020, he joined Atlético Malagueño, where he worked for several seasons training youth players and competing in promotion playoffs. In the 2024/25 season, he achieved promotion to the Second Federation as group champion.

In the 2025/26 season, after the departure of Sergio Pellicer, he took over the first team on matchday 15 of La Liga Hypermotion and managed to qualify the white-and-blue team for the promotion playoff, culminating in their return to the First Division. His appointment as announcer comes at a sweet moment for Málaga fans.

During the event, the City Council confirmed that the announcement will be held on a stage set up in front of the main entrance, a space that gathers thousands of people each year. This year's fair will feature the lighting as a backdrop for Funes' speech.
