This morning, the town of Málaga hosted the awarding of the Extraordinary Baccalaureate Prizes for the 25/26 academic year, recognising 13 students from the province for their academic excellence.

Recognition of Student Dedication

The event took place at the Gonzalo Martín Tenllado Professional Conservatory of Music, with the presence of the territorial delegate, Miguel Briones, and the councillor for Education and Employment Promotion of the Málaga City Council, María Paz Flores, among other educational representatives.

The awarded students achieved the highest grades in a test held on June 17, two weeks after the PAU. This evaluation, lasting four hours, includes four blocks: Philosophy, History, Foreign Language, and subject of choice. To be considered, all participants had to have an academic record above 8.75 during Baccalaureate.

Awards and Their Impact

During his speech, Miguel Briones highlighted the effort and dedication of the awardees, stating that these prizes reflect how talent combined with perseverance yields excellent results. He also emphasised the commitment of all the young people who participated in the call.

This edition recorded a total of 235 registrations for the awards. The number of awardees in Andalusia is determined based on the number of students enrolled in 2nd Baccalaureate, awarding one prize for every 1,000 students or fraction exceeding 500. The prizes include a monetary award of 500 euros and free tuition for the first year at public universities in Andalusia.

The winners represent ten educational centres in the province, including CDP Patrocinio San José (Estepona), IES Ciudad de Coín (Coín), and CDP El Pinar (Alhaurín de la Torre), among others. During the ceremony, student Marco Anuncibay from IES Cerro del Viento in Benalmádena, who achieved the highest score in the test, spoke on behalf of his fellow awardees. The event also featured a performance by cellist Álvaro Lozano Cames, a former student of the conservatory, who played two classical pieces.
