Nearly 5,000 vocational training teachers in Andalucía have been trained this year to adapt teaching to the job market. Málaga stands out with the highest employment rate among graduates, especially in the technology sector.
The province of Málaga leads the employment insertion of vocational training graduates in Andalucía, according to the latest data from the Junta collected by Diario Sur. 65.7% of Andalucía graduates find employment four years after obtaining their qualification, but in Málaga, the percentage rises to 75.2% in the area of technology and communication.
This context explains the training effort of the Ministry of Education, which during the 2025/2026 academic year has trained 4,901 teachers in vocational training through 162 actions carried out in 20 teacher training centres and the Andalusian Centre for Innovation in Vocational Training. The initiative is part of the III Andalusian Plan for Permanent Teacher Training.
Half of the offerings, 81 courses, have focused on strategic professional families. The health branch leads with 18 courses on computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, or advanced life support; followed by Agriculture with 11 actions on precision agriculture with drones or ecological beekeeping, and Transport and Vehicle Maintenance with nine on hybrid and electric mechanics.
The reinforcement of transversal skills in digitalisation and sustainability has been the second pillar, with 31 courses (19.13% of the total) on generative artificial intelligence applied to teaching, 3D BIM modelling, cloud resources like AWS and Docker, and business management software. The implementation of the new Dual Vocational Training has been prominently featured with 30 provincial days dedicated to monitoring and evaluating the training phase in companies.
The programme is completed with 11 courses on active methodologies, immersive classrooms, and emotional education, as well as activities to promote collaboration networks between schools and businesses in innovation projects and STEM vocations. Teachers have also been prepared to act as advisors and evaluators in the procedures for accrediting citizens' work experience.
The employment insertion of vocational training in Málaga exceeds the Andalusian average and approaches the national average of 70%. By areas, after technology and communication (75.2%), business, administration, and law stand out with 69.9%, and mechanics, electronics, and other technical training with 64.9%. The area with the lowest percentage is agriculture, fishing, and forestry, with 45.2%.
Compared to university, 73.8% of degree graduates work within four years, according to the same source. In both cases, the technology and health sectors offer greater employability, while arts and humanities face more difficulties. 68.7% of the population has a very or fairly positive perception of vocational training, compared to only 8% who view it negatively.
