A woman remains in custody in Pizarra after the death of a Zalea resident during a struggle involving a firearm. The victim, aged between 45 and 50, was shot in the side.

The Pizarra district of Zalea is in shock this Tuesday following a shooting that claimed the life of a resident aged between 45 and 50, identified as David. A woman living on the same street is in custody after being intercepted while attempting to leave the area in her vehicle, according to Diario Sur.

The main hypothesis being considered by investigators points to an alleged financial debt as the origin of the conflict. The events escalated on Monday afternoon when the man allegedly returned to the arrested woman's property and a physical struggle ensued, during which he was shot in the side.

“If he came back, I was going to shoot him”

The sequence of events began on Sunday. Sources close to the case confirm that the suspect alerted emergency services twice that she was being threatened with death. Later that night, a patrol from the Guardia Civil arrived at the scene but did not find the alleged perpetrator of the threats. Some neighbours report that the woman warned the officers that “if he came back, I was going to shoot him”.

The conflict resurfaced early Monday afternoon when the man returned to the property. Specialists from the Armed Institute are investigating who initially possessed the firearm: it is not ruled out that it belonged to the arrested woman, although it is also being examined whether the deceased had it with him to intimidate the woman.

The agents who urgently responded to Zalea managed to capture the alleged perpetrator of the homicide, who was trying to flee in her car, parked at her home, alongside some minors. They also recovered the weapon with which the crime was allegedly committed.

A judicial delegation, consisting of the on-duty judge, the legal representative of the Justice Administration, and the forensic expert, arrived at the scene to oversee the removal of the body for transfer to the Institute of Legal Medicine of Málaga, where the autopsy will shed more light on the case.

Members of the USECIC deployed a security operation in the area to prevent possible disturbances, while specialists from the Scientific Police inspected the suspect's home and car for evidence. The arrested woman remains in custody awaiting judicial proceedings.
