The second edition of the inclusive theatre workshop for families with ADHD will take place on Tuesdays from October to December at the Social Services building on Hojalateros Street, with free registration.
The Vélez-Málaga City Council and the TDAH Axarquía Association have launched the second edition of the inclusive theatre workshop, a free activity aimed at improving the socialisation, autonomy, and personal skills of individuals with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and their families, as reported by Diario Sur.
Sessions will be held every Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM during the months of October, November, and December, at the municipal Social Services and Equality building located at number 3 Hojalateros Street. The activity is aimed at family units where one of the members has ADHD, with special attention to children, adolescents, and young people, although adults from these families can also participate.
The Councillor for Social Rights and Equality, Juan García (GIPMTM), presented the programme alongside the president of TDAH Axarquía, Catalina Abraham, and the educator Pedro Peinado, who is responsible for delivering the sessions. García highlighted that the workshop is "an extremely important, safe space, a space for creativity" that helps children to "improve, socialise, and be more themselves".
"A space that fosters creativity" and "where you are respected and understood," Abraham noted.
The programme will work on aspects such as attention and concentration, impulse control, self-regulation, emotional management, communication, social skills, self-esteem, personal organisation, autonomy, and creativity. Peinado explained that the approach will be educational and therapeutic, using the performing arts to address individual capabilities and social inclusion. In his view, difficulties can be "a brake, but never a paralysis".
The sessions will be practical in nature and will include theatrical games, body expression, improvisation, voice and diction exercises, group dynamics, attention and listening activities, character creation, and a gradual incorporation of texts and scenes. Tasks will be adapted to the different paces of the participants, and positive reinforcement will be used, integrating mistakes as part of the learning process.
The first edition, launched at the beginning of 2026, started in January with eight sessions in the same municipal building and was initially scheduled to run until June. The City Council highlighted the free nature of the activity, open not only to diagnosed minors but also to young people, adults, and family members.
Interested individuals can request information via email at tdahaxarquia@gmail.com or through WhatsApp at 623 76 25 40. The association has called on families who are not yet part of the entity and on educational centres, offices, and professionals working with individuals with ADHD to help spread the initiative.
