The Vélez-Málaga Town Hall and Axarquía LGTBIQ+ are resuming their free emotional wellbeing workshops, open to anyone, every Thursday from 18:00 to 20:00 on Hojalateros Street.
The Delegation of Social Rights and Equality of the Vélez-Málaga Town Hall and the association Axarquía LGTBIQ+ have opened a new call for emotional wellbeing workshops that will take place during October, November, and December, as reported by Diario Sur. The sessions will be free, and anyone interested can participate, regardless of their sexual orientation or personal situation.
The programme will run every Thursday from 18:00 to 20:00 at the Community Social Services building on Hojalateros Street in Vélez-Málaga. This activity marks its fourth consecutive edition and maintains the same schedule as in previous calls.
Meme Gallardo will once again lead the sessions. The facilitator explained that the workshop focuses on emotional management and personal wellbeing tools, emphasising that “anyone who wants to attend can come.” In her opinion, these meetings help participants focus on their emotions and share experiences through listening and trust.
“There is nothing more beautiful than working on just that, emotions”
The project started linked to the LGTBIQ+ community and later expanded its participation to the general public. Gallardo has described the workshop as a space “very peaceful and above all very safe,” designed to promote freedom of expression and the exchange of experiences among people with different circumstances and without labels.
The Councillor for Social Rights and Equality, Juan García (GIPMTM), defended during the presentation that these meetings have become “a fundamental pillar” of the municipal area. The councillor highlighted the goal of having “safe spaces, spaces of freedom, spaces of encounter” among people with different realities.
According to García, previous calls have seen participation from people from other parts of the province of Málaga, progressively expanding the initiative's scope beyond the municipality. The proposal continues the line of activities that the Social Services area has been developing with the associative fabric: in October 2024, workshops on mindfulness, therapeutic yoga, breathing, and emotional management were promoted, and in September 2025, another call for mental hygiene and emotional wellbeing was presented for the final stretch of the year.
The sessions of this new edition will be held every Thursday between 18:00 and 20:00 on Hojalateros Street, free of charge and without the need for prior registration, according to the information provided by the organisers.
