The Vélez-Málaga Town Hall is organising for the first time a dinner in honour of the elderly on August 15 in the Plaza de la Constitución, with 500 places at 5 euros and a free show of traditional songs.

On Saturday, August 15, the Plaza de la Constitución in Vélez-Málaga will host the first edition of the Elder's Dinner, an evening organised by the Town Hall as part of the summer programme “At the Foot of the Wall”. The event will start at 21:00 and aims to recognise the role of the elderly in the municipality with a night of togetherness and music.

There will be 500 tickets available at a symbolic price of 5 euros, aimed at facilitating participation. Tickets can be purchased from Monday, August 10 at 11:00 at the Mercado de San Francisco in Vélez-Málaga, until stocks run out.

After the dinner, the celebration will continue with a traditional song show open to all citizens, featuring performances by Sergio Pérez “El Cindindi”, Álvaro Alcaide and Natalia Moralo. This second part will be free and will allow anyone to come and enjoy the music in a festive atmosphere.

The councillor for Popular Traditions, Lourdes Piña, has emphasised that the summer programme continues to grow and that this year they wanted to incorporate an initiative that puts the elderly in the spotlight. Meanwhile, the councillor for the Elderly, Juan Fernández Olmo, has insisted that this is a tribute and a way to thank them for all they have contributed to Vélez-Málaga.

The day will thus combine an activity dedicated to the elderly with an open cultural proposal, turning the event into a night of intergenerational togetherness in one of the city's most emblematic spaces. Ticket sales will be conducted only in person at the Mercado de San Francisco.
