The Town Hall of Rincón de la Victoria, through the Health Department, will launch an itinerant awareness campaign on sun protection and melanoma prevention on Sunday, August 2, travelling along the municipality's coastline.
The Town Hall of Rincón de la Victoria, through the Health Department, will initiate an awareness campaign on the importance of adequately protecting oneself from the sun and preventing melanoma on Sunday, August 2. The itinerant action will cover the coastline of the municipality from 12:00 to 15:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00, bringing information and recommendations to residents and visitors on the beaches.
The Councillor for Health, Lola Ramos, has emphasised the need to adopt habits and precautions against sun exposure, which help protect the skin, minimise harmful effects, and contribute to the prevention of diseases such as melanoma. “It is essential for the population to be aware of the risks and know how to protect themselves,” she stated.
For his part, the Mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado, highlighted the importance of “raising awareness among citizens about the risks of excessive sun exposure and providing simple tools to protect our skin, especially during the summer months.” Salado added that “from the Town Hall, we want to help residents and visitors enjoy our beaches in a healthy and responsible manner, reinforcing information and prevention.”
During the day, a team of three people will walk along the beach to provide information and basic recommendations on sun protection, melanoma prevention, and healthy skin care. The initiative will have a strong educational and preventive character, conveying the public health message directly to the beach environment, where exposure to solar radiation is particularly intense during the summer season.
To facilitate the identification of the campaign, the participating staff will carry themed backpacks shaped like sunscreen containers, which will also be used to transport the samples that will be distributed during the activity. The Health Department reminds the importance of adopting appropriate sun protection measures, especially during the hours of highest ultraviolet radiation intensity, as well as maintaining responsible habits for skin care throughout the summer.
The campaign is part of the public health actions that the Town Hall of Rincón de la Victoria develops during the summer, aiming to prevent health problems associated with sun exposure. Melanoma, one of the most aggressive types of skin cancer, can be largely prevented with adequate protection and early detection of suspicious lesions.
