The Gómez Quesada family, 'Los Pollones', will give the opening speech this Friday, September 25 at 20:30 in the Plaza de España. The fair will feature more than 540,000 low-energy points of light and a special security device.
The San Miguel Fair of Torremolinos kicks off this Friday, September 25 with the opening speech by the Gómez Quesada family, known as 'Los Pollones', at 20:30 hours in the Plaza de España. After the speech, flamenco by Borja Cortés will lead to the screening of the inaugural video and the lighting of the artistic illumination.
This year's ornamental lighting consists of over 540,000 low-energy points of light, featuring LED technology and a dynamic design that combines tradition and colour at the main entrances and spaces of the fairgrounds.
The fair nights will be concentrated in the Fairgrounds, with attractions for all ages. The Auditorio Municipal Príncipe de Asturias will host concerts every night: on Friday, Falete; on Saturday 26, Los Aslándticos; on Sunday, Pepe y Vizio; and on Monday 28, the folk group Juan Navarro alongside the dance groups of Manuel Roldán and Lucía Barroso.
The Children's Municipal Tent will open at 20:30 with entertainment, theatre, and workshops. The tent for the elderly and associations will offer music and dancing from 22:30 with the Orquesta Metrópolis and artists like Araceli González. The younger crowd will have their space in the bullring with the RECREO festival, Friday and Saturday from 00:00 to 04:00, featuring Jessy Ojeda on Saturday.
The daytime fair moves to the centre. The squares of the European Union and San Miguel will have live music and bars with food and drink at popular prices. The Plaza de la Nogalera will host performances by Money Makers, Capitán Vinilo, and Mister Propper. The musical closing will be on Monday 29 with El Kanka at 20:00 in the Plaza Pablo Ruiz Picasso.
The programme includes a Horse Ride and II Harness Competition, a master class in flamenco by sevillanas, and an equestrian show in the bullring. On the 28th, the traditional floral offering to San Miguel Arcángel will take place.
On Tuesday 29, the patron's day, activities will begin at 09:30 with a mass in the Plaza San Miguel, followed by a procession through various points in the city, accompanied by the IV Tercio de la Legión de Ronda.
The fair maintains its inclusive character: the opening speech will have a sign language interpreter, there will be no music in the attractions area between 19:30 and 20:30, identification bracelets and children's ear protectors will be provided, and a sensory path will be established to avoid areas of high sound and light stimulation. The programme will be available via QR code and there will be a braille map thanks to the collaboration of ONCE.
During the night fair, violet and rainbow points will be set up on the main street of the venue: on the 25th from 21:00 to 02:00 and from the 26th to the 28th from 22:00 to 02:00. There will also be a point for the Movida Attention Service on the side of the auditorium.
The auditorium will have family space for people with functional diversity, an accessible platform, reserved parking area, and a breastfeeding room.
