The Málaga municipality leads hotel overnight stays in Andalusia during July, with 699,089, a 7% increase compared to last year. It also surpasses Seville, Granada, and Málaga.
Torremolinos once again positions itself at the forefront of Andalusian tourism. During the past month of July, the hotel establishments in the locality recorded 699,089 overnight stays, representing a year-on-year growth of almost 7%. This figure places the municipality ahead of cities such as Seville, Granada, or Málaga.
The number of travellers who chose Torremolinos for their holidays also increased significantly. In July, 141,219 travellers were registered, nearly 12% more than in the same month last year. Of these, 57,589 were from Spain and 83,630 were foreigners.
Domestic tourism shows a special strength: Spanish travellers increased by more than 14% compared to July 2025, and their overnight stays, 204,861, rose by over 8%. Overnight stays by foreigners reached 494,228. These figures consolidate Torremolinos as the leader of the Costa del Sol, surpassing neighbouring municipalities such as Benalmádena, Marbella, Fuengirola, or Estepona.
The municipality also leads the occupancy rate per room on weekends throughout Andalusia, with 86.49%. Hotel employment reflects this positive trend as well: 4,174 people worked in the hotels of the locality during July, a figure that underscores the weight of tourism in the local economy.
Alongside these figures, the Torremolinos City Council has highlighted the quality of the waters of its beaches. Periodic analyses conducted by the Chair of Coastal Sciences at the University of Málaga (UMA) conclude that the quality of the waters and sediments on the beaches of Carihuela, Bajondillo, Playamar, and Los Álamos is excellent.
The samples, taken both in the bathing area and in the towel area, are analysed at the Faculty of Sciences of UMA following the Royal Decree on the management of bathing water quality and the European Parliament Directive. Indicators such as E.coli and intestinal enterococci are measured, with excellent quality results in all the beaches.
These controls have been carried out for years throughout the summer, with the aim of ensuring the health safety of bathers. The data reinforces Torremolinos' position as a benchmark tourist destination, both for its hotel figures and for the quality of its coastline.
