La Carihuela will host the Virgen del Carmen Fair in Torremolinos from July 15 to 19, featuring a maritime procession on the 16th, free concerts, and inclusive attractions.
The Virgen del Carmen Fair in Torremolinos has announced its dates and schedule. The neighbourhood of La Carihuela is preparing to host one of the most anticipated events of the summer on the Costa del Sol, with a procession, free concerts, and activities for all audiences.
The Town Hall has detailed that the epicentre of the maritime tradition will once again be the Plaza del Remo and the surroundings of Rincón del Sol. The festivities will kick off on Tuesday, July 15, with a floral offering to the Virgin and the lighting of the artistic illuminations.
Procession and blessing of the sea
The central moment will arrive on Wednesday, July 16, the feast day of the patron saint of sailors. The image of the Virgen del Carmen will parade through the streets of La Carihuela to the beach of Rincón del Sol, where the traditional maritime prayer and blessing of the waters of the Mediterranean will take place.
The procession will be accompanied by music bands and hundreds of sailors. After the blessing, the image will return to the parish of La Carihuela. This event attracts thousands of locals and visitors each year, according to municipal sources.
Free concerts and festive atmosphere
The fairgrounds will feature two booths: the Traditional Municipal booth and the Youth Municipal booth. Free musical performances will take place there until Saturday, July 19. Among the scheduled groups are Mayday, Capitán Vinilo, Retroactivos, Stereo 80, Alokados, The Bottles, Ilsentho, Pop FM, Queen of Magic, TNT, Money Makers, Mr. Proper, and Free Soul Band.
Additionally, the Rompeolas orchestra will perform daily at the traditional booth. The maritime atmosphere will be complemented by fair attractions and stalls offering typical cuisine, perfect for family enjoyment.
A more inclusive fair
The Town Hall continues to implement inclusion measures established in recent years. Thus, every day, between 21:00 and 22:00, the attractions will operate without music to facilitate enjoyment for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
On Sunday, July 19, the Day of the Child will be celebrated, with reduced prices for attractions. An opportunity for the little ones to enjoy without crowds.
Promotional poster and contemporary art
Coinciding with this edition, the Town Hall has presented the promotional poster for the festival, created by artist Rafael Laureano. The composition combines oil painting with contemporary techniques such as 3D printing and laser-cut typography.
The poster pays tribute to the maritime tradition and devotion that La Carihuela holds for the Virgen del Carmen. It will be displayed in public spaces and on the Town Hall's website.
For the residents of Torremolinos and visitors, the fair represents a boost to tourism and local commerce. Hotels in the area are already reporting high occupancy rates for those dates, according to industry sources. The Town Hall recommends checking the full schedule on its website and arriving early to park or use public transport.
