The municipality ends July with 3,748 unemployed, 12.2% less than a year ago, the lowest figure since November 2007. The hospitality sector accounts for more than half of the contracts.
Torremolinos has closed the month of July 2026 with 3,748 people unemployed, representing a year-on-year decrease of 12.2% compared to the 4,270 registered unemployed in July 2025. According to data from the Argos observatory of the Junta de Andalucía, this is the lowest figure since November 2007.
The decrease is also evident compared to the previous month: in June there were 3,845 unemployed, so the monthly drop is 2.5%. Of the total unemployed, 2,245 are women and 1,503 are men, with both groups having the largest number over 45 years old.
The hospitality sector drives hiring
Regarding hiring, during July, 2,212 contracts were signed in the municipality, 3.3% more than the 2,139 in the same month of 2025. Most, 1,357, corresponded to individuals with secondary education; 614 to those with completed primary education; 136 to post-secondary graduates, and the rest to individuals without education or with incomplete primary education.
By sectors, the hospitality sector accumulated 1,182 contracts, more than half of the total, followed by commerce with 207, administrative activities and auxiliary services with 196, and artistic, sports, and entertainment activities with 137.
The tourist weight of Torremolinos is also reflected in the data from the National Institute of Statistics: in June 2026, there were 3,737 people employed in hotel establishments in the locality, 3.53% more than in the same month of 2025, which equates to 132 more contracts.
The Torremolinos City Council has valued this data as a reflection of the good employment performance in the municipality, consolidating its recovery after the effects of the economic crisis. The trend indicates that summer will maintain a positive hiring pace, especially in the services sector.
