The Mijas City Council will allocate €100,000 to a new line of aid for families. Applications can be submitted from August 20 to September 10.

The Mijas City Council has launched a new line of financial aid for the birth, adoption or fostering of minors, with a total allocation of €100,000. This was announced on Wednesday by the mayor, Ana Mata, who presented the initiative as a pioneering benefit in the municipality.

The aid consists of a one-off payment of €300 per child, without the need to justify the expense, as explained by the mayor. In cases of multiple births, adoptions or fostering of several children, the amount will be multiplied for each of them.

It can be requested by parents, adopters or foster carers who meet a series of requirements. Among them, that the birth, adoption or fostering occurred between January 1 and December 31, 2025, being registered in Mijas for a minimum of five years, and residing with the child in the municipality at the time of application.

Additionally, it will be necessary to be up to date with tax obligations and with Social Security, as well as not incurring in the prohibitions outlined in Article 13 of Law 38/2003, which regulates public subsidies.

“This is a new line of aid that we are initiating for the first time in our municipality with the aim of helping families. We believe that with this we can assist in those initial moments, such as the birth of a baby, a fostering or an adoption. We announce these subsidies and we fulfil them,” stated Ana Mata.

The mayor emphasized that the goal is to alleviate the initial expenses that come with the arrival of a child, an adoption or a fostering, and reminded that these benefits do not require justification of the destination of the money, as they are conceived as direct support to families.

The application period will begin on August 20 and will extend until September 10. Interested parties can process their applications electronically through the Mijas City Council's electronic headquarters (www.mijas.es) or in person at the municipal registers of the council and the mayor's offices.

Among the required documentation are the applicant's DNI or NIE, the family book or the judicial or administrative resolution of adoption or fostering, the historical collective registration certificate, a document proving the bank account, and, if applicable, the disability certificate of the child or of a sibling excluded from the application when this is equal to or greater than 33%.

This new benefit adds to other support measures for families that the Mijas City Council has promoted in recent years, although this is the first time that aid of this nature has been called in the municipality. Interested families can consult the complete bases at the municipal electronic headquarters.
