The Rubén Ruzafa pavilion will host the opening match between Unicaja and La Laguna Tenerife on Thursday, September 10. Tickets go on sale on August 13.
The Rubén Ruzafa Sports Pavilion in Rincón de la Victoria will be the venue for the opening match of the XV Costa del Sol Tournament, which will see Unicaja face La Laguna Tenerife on Thursday, September 10 at 20:00. The municipality thus becomes the opening venue for one of the most prestigious summer events in European basketball.
The tournament will bring together three of the giants of Spanish basketball from September 10 to 12: in addition to the Málaga team and the Canary side, Real Madrid will complete the lineup. The Sports Councillor of Rincón de la Victoria, Antonio José Martín, has emphasised that this event will allow local fans to "enjoy top-level basketball without leaving the municipality."
On Friday, September 11, the tournament will move to the Sergio Scariolo Pavilion in San Pedro Alcántara, Marbella, where Real Madrid will face La Laguna Tenerife. On Sunday, September 12, the Martín Carpena Sports Palace in Málaga will host the clash between Unicaja and the white team.
The mayor of Rincón de la Victoria and president of the Málaga Provincial Council, Francisco Salado, has highlighted the significance of the municipality being part of such a large-scale sporting event once again. "For Rincón de la Victoria, it is a pleasure to host the start of a tournament that has become a reference point in European basketball," he stated.
Salado has praised the Provincial Council's commitment to decentralising elite sports: "We want major sporting events not to be concentrated solely in the capital, but to travel across the province." In this regard, he insisted that the municipality "is ready to host major events" and that sport is "a tool for promotion and dynamism."
Tickets for each match have a fixed price of 8 euros. For the match in Rincón de la Victoria, tickets will go on sale on Thursday, August 13 at the Sports Area of the Town Hall, in the lower part of the Rubén Ruzafa pavilion, from 9:00 to 14:00, until stocks last.
Each person may purchase a maximum of 4 tickets and payment will be made only by card. They will also be available at the Unicaja Basketball stores in Los Guindos and Plaza de la Marina, in Málaga city.
The three matches of the tournament will be broadcast live on 101 TV, so fans who cannot attend will be able to follow them from home.
