The Town Hall of Mijas took the definitive step on Monday to stabilise its temporary staff. The Local Government Board approved the public employment offer for stabilisation, a process that affects around 380 workers, nearly 40% of the municipal workforce.
The file comes after a long judicial journey. The original offer, approved in 2022 by the previous government of PSOE and Ciudadanos, estimated 383 positions to be affected. The current government team modified that offer, a change that a contentious-administrative court in Málaga declared illegal.
The conflict led the unions to call for a strike at the Town Hall, which was ultimately cancelled after the local government committed to stabilising temporary workers during this year. Now, the Town Hall assures that the new offer is adapted to the law and to "the judicial resolutions that occurred during the process".
The Human Resources department must now approve the bases and the call for the positions. Afterwards, the offer will be published in the official bulletins of the province, the community, and the State (BOP, BOJA, and BOE), at which point the application period will open.
The Town Hall has announced that the agreement will be published "immediately" on the municipal transparency portal, so that those affected can know the details of the process.
