From July 20 to August 16, the Paseo de la Alameda in Marbella will become the literary epicentre with book presentations, children's workshops, and puppet theatre. The opening speech will be given by doctor Javier García Alegría.
The Marbella Book Fair returns this summer with an edition that will last nearly a month, from July 20 to August 16, 2026. The Paseo de la Alameda will be the main venue for the activities, which will begin at 20:00 each day. This cultural event, which has already established itself in the summer calendar of the Costa del Sol, offers a varied programme designed for all audiences.
The opening will be marked by the speech titled “Elogio a la Lectura”, delivered by internist doctor Javier García Alegría, who was named Honorary Citizen of Marbella in 2021. The inaugural event will take place on Monday, July 20, at the Royal Hospital of Mercy, a historic site in the city.
Children's and Family Activities
The fair dedicates a significant part of its programme to the youngest. On Tuesday, July 21, it kicks off with the storytelling workshop “El Elefante me lo contó”, by Rosa Creativa, an activity for children aged 3 and up that combines stories, music, games, and face painting. This will be followed on Thursday, July 23, by the workshop “Todos somos raros”, by Inés Vázquez, focused on values such as diversity and self-esteem, recommended for ages 5 to 9.
On Sunday, July 26, Pepepérez will present the oral narration “El coleccionista de palabras”, a family proposal where imagination is the star. On Wednesday, July 29, Vanesa López will present “Historias que nos unen”, and on Friday, July 31, Diego Magdaleno will stage “Biznaga de cuentos”.
In August, the children's programme continues on Monday, August 3, with the puppet theatre “Tres historias, tres”, by the company Ángeles de Trapo, recommended for ages 3 and up. On Wednesday, August 5, Sandra Cerezo and Fran Mangas will present “Cuentos para Pinocho”, a narrative musical theatre show for children aged 0 to 10. On Friday, August 7, Atelana Teatro will perform “Papá, quiero ser…”, a puppet show addressing equality and respect for differences. The children's cycle will close on Wednesday, August 12, with “Mandarina y los piratas”, by Mado Vidal, a story that combines adventure and puppetry.
Literary Presentations for Adults
The fair will also host a dozen book presentations. On Wednesday, July 22, local author Kenia Consuegra will present her first poetry book “Letras sin Nombre”, inspired by the Mediterranean and personal transformation. On Friday, July 24, at 20:00, Moira Láquesis will present “El hilo de la encrucijada”, moderated by Irene Abecia; and at 21:00, Victoria Sol Hill will present “El día de la vergüenza”, about overcoming challenges and identity.
On Tuesday, July 28, Miguel Tapia Millán will present his novel “Tres”, accompanied by journalist Agustín Hervás. On Thursday, July 30, Cristina Eguíluz Casanovas will present “Los desplazados”, a novel that traces the history of two families from the post-war period to the 2008 crisis. In August, presentations will continue on Tuesday, August 4, with “Esclava o libre, siempre poesía”, by Juan Emilio Ríos Vera and María Luz Reyes Muñiz; on Thursday, August 6, with “A través de la tormenta”, by Eme Barrios; on Monday, August 10, with “Alas infinitas”, by Ana Paula Mena Galán; on Tuesday, August 11, with “Diente de leche”, by María José Coronado; on Thursday, August 13, with “Jugando a la Rayuela con Boccaccio”, by Antonio Núñez Azuaga; and on Friday, August 14, with “Diario de un Unicornio”, by Patricia Lamela.
The fair will conclude on August 16, although the organisation has not specified whether there will be a specific closing event. All activities are free to access and will take place at the Paseo de la Alameda, except for the inaugural speech which will be held at the Royal Hospital of Mercy. Attendees will be able to enjoy booths from local bookstores to purchase copies and obtain author signatures.
