Real Betis begins its second pre-season training camp in Marbella on Monday with a significant absence: goalkeeper Diego Conde, who was injured on Saturday in a friendly against Granada CF. According to initial examinations, the Madrid goalkeeper may be suffering from a dislocation in his left shoulder that could keep him out of the group for several weeks, practically for the remainder of pre-season.
The incident occurred in the first half of the match when Conde rushed out of his area and accidentally collided with his teammate Diego Llorente. The central defender, who initially appeared to have suffered a concussion, was able to continue the match, but the goalkeeper on loan from Villarreal had to leave for the dressing room with his arm in a sling and unable to bend it. The exact extent of the injury will be determined on Monday through medical tests.
In his place, coach Manuel Pellegrini has planned for first-year youth player Yan Zhuravskyi, 17, who will celebrate his birthday next week, to travel to Marbella. The young goalkeeper, who has represented Ukraine at youth levels, will complete the list of goalkeepers alongside Álvaro Valles and Manu González.
Those who will be in Costa del Sol, although with specific training plans, are Antony Matheus dos Santos, Isco Alarcón, and Ez Abde. None of them have yet participated in friendly matches this pre-season. The next to arrive will be Colombian 'Cucho' Hernández, who is scheduled to travel on Monday, August 3, to be part of the training camp in Ireland. Finally, Argentine Giovani Lo Celso, who was with the Albiceleste in the final of the World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will return the following week, on Monday, August 10.
