Next Friday, August 14, at 20:30, the Jesús Gámez stadium at the Elola Sports Complex will host the XIII Antonio Basilio Memorial, featuring UD Fuengirola-Los Boliches against CD Málaga 1903.
The Costa del Sol football scene has a notable date on the summer calendar. UD Fuengirola-Los Boliches and CD Málaga 1903 will face off on Friday, August 14 at 20:30 at the Jesús Gámez stadium of the Elola Sports Complex, which exceptionally hosts the XIII edition of the Antonio Basilio Memorial.
The venue change is due to the construction works of the new Santa Fe-Antonio Basilio stadium, as confirmed this Thursday by Fuengirola's Sports Councillor, Julio Rodríguez, and the head coach of the Bolichero first team, Diego Alonso, during the event presentation.
“On August 14, we have a very special appointment with sports and the memory of Antonio Basilio, an exemplary Bolichero who dedicated a good part of his life to football and whose contribution was decisive for the development of this sport in our city,” highlighted the councillor.
Rodríguez took the opportunity to encourage fans to fill the stands of Elola. The match will bring together two teams immersed in pre-season preparations and will serve, once again, to keep alive the memory of a beloved figure in the locality.
Antonio Basilio was one of the main promoters of the historic CD Los Boliches, the seed of the current UD Fuengirola-Los Boliches. He also played a key role in the growth of the entity and in the development of sports facilities that have been a reference for local football for decades.
Coach Diego Alonso also wanted to invite the locals to enjoy the match. “We hope that the fans will join us for this match against CD Málaga 1903 to pay tribute to Antonio Basilio, a fundamental figure in the history of our club,” he stated.
The Antonio Basilio Memorial has established itself as a classic summer event in Fuengirola, and this year, in addition to the emotional component, it will offer the opportunity to see two teams fine-tuning their preparations for the upcoming season.
The doors of the Jesús Gámez stadium will open to welcome fans who, as every summer, show their affection for a tournament that blends sport and memory. The event, on Friday, August 14 at 20:30, promises a festive atmosphere in Elola.
