The Weekend draw of the ONCE has distributed 1,820,000 euros in Fuengirola, with a top prize of 300,000 euros in cash plus 5,000 euros a month for 20 years.
The seller Manuel González, who started working at ONCE last December, sold the winning ticket on Avenida Santa Amalia, next to the Central Mosque of Fuengirola. The winning series totals 300,000 euros in cash and 5,000 euros a month for 20 years, amounting to 1.5 million euros.
Sixteen tickets of 20,000 euros
In addition to the star prize, another 16 tickets were sold, each worth 20,000 euros, totalling 320,000 euros. In total, the coastal town received 1,820,000 euros in major prizes.
“While Spain was winning the World Cup, the calls started coming in and I couldn't watch the match,” González recounts, happy to have missed the last minutes of the game for such a significant reason.
The seller, who previously worked in flamenco until a heart problem changed his path, claims that ONCE has given him a new life. “The joy of knowing that you have brought happiness to many families. This has been like a World Cup goal, a perfect night,” he explains.
Luck arrives on the Costa del Sol
Fuengirola, one of the most touristy municipalities on the Western Costa del Sol, is back in the news due to an ONCE draw. The prize arrives in the middle of the high season, providing an economic boost to the area and joy to the locals and visitors who purchased the tickets.
Manuel González, who says he feels “very happy” with his job, highlights interacting with people as the best part of his work. “When you start working at ONCE, what you want is to give out a prize and when that day comes, you feel a strange sensation, because even though it hasn't happened to you, it feels like it has,” he recounts.
A life-changing prize
The ONCE Sueldazo allows winners to receive a monthly income for two decades, ensuring long-term financial stability. For many, this prize represents the opportunity to pay off debts, start a business, or simply live with more peace of mind.
The residents of Fuengirola are already celebrating the news, while the seller, who couldn't see the end of the World Cup due to calls from winners, assures that it was “a perfect night.” The Weekend draw of the ONCE continues to bring joy in the province of Málaga.
