The Junta de Andalucía has started this week the renovation works on the A-357 motorway, which connects to Málaga. This action is part of the Paving Plan and involves an investment of three million euros.
The works are being carried out at night to minimise disruption to traffic, which sees a volume of approximately 74,000 vehicles daily. The section where the works are being executed runs from Málaga towards Campillos, starting from the area between Málaga and Málaga Tech.
Details of the works and the paving plan
The Minister of Development and Mobility, Mario Muñoz-Atanet, has emphasised the importance of this access, mentioning that it is one of the busiest not only in Málaga but in Andalucía, thus the investment aims to improve conditions for drivers and road safety.
In addition to this intervention, Muñoz-Atanet highlighted other recent investments on the same motorway, such as the creation of a BUS-VAO lane, which was inaugurated at the end of last year with a budget of 8.5 million euros, and the conversion of a new stretch of the A-357 road between Casapalma and Cerralba, amounting to 51 million euros.
Objectives and scope of the Paving Plan
The Paving Plan of the Junta de Andalucía encompasses various actions, such as repairing potholes and deteriorated pavements, milling and replacing asphalt layers, and improvements in horizontal signage, among others. This is part of a total investment of 151.5 million euros for all of Andalucía, with 17.5 million allocated to the province of Málaga.
The A-357 motorway, which starts in the foothills of the Serranía de Ronda and extends for 69 kilometres, connects the Guadalhorce Valley with the capital of Málaga and the coast, facilitating the movement of residents in this area.
