The Government of Spain will invest €7.81 million in 24 actions to repair 23 provincial roads in the Diputación of Málaga damaged by winter storms.
The Deputy Delegate of the Government in Málaga, Javier Salas, announced on Wednesday an investment of €7.81 million to repair 23 provincial roads that were damaged by the storms last winter. The works, fully financed by the central government, include a total of 24 actions on various roads in the province.
Salas highlighted that the reconstruction plan, framed within Royal Decree-Law 5/2026, responds to the damage caused by adverse weather phenomena that particularly affected Andalusia and Extremadura. “While some were busy spreading falsehoods, the Government of Spain has been focused on providing solutions,” the deputy delegate stated, clearly referring to the president of the Diputación of Málaga, whom he invited to “rectify and express gratitude” for the initiative.
The roads with the highest investment
The largest allocation corresponds to the road MA-8401, which connects Benaoján with Cortes de la Frontera, with a budget of €1.6 million. This is followed by the MA-8306, from A-369 to Benalauría, with €800,000, and the MA-8405, from MA-7402 to Cortijo de los Villalones, with €700,000.
Three other roads collectively exceed €1.8 million: the MA-7402 (from A-374 to Acinipo) receives €622,000, while the MA-8301 (from Estepona to Jubrique) and the MA-8406 (from MA-7402 to Venta de la Leche) each receive €600,000. The remaining actions range between €13,000 and €500,000, as detailed by the Government Subdelegation.
A network of roads spread across the province
The works cover roads from all Málaga's districts. Among the most notable are the MA-3300, which connects Alhaurín de la Torre with Alhaurín el Grande, with three repair points; the MA-8301, which spans 32 kilometres between Estepona and Jubrique; and the MA-8401, in the Serranía de Ronda. Interventions will also take place on roads in Axarquía, such as the MA-3114 (Moclinejo-Almáchar) or the MA-4108 (Salares-Árchez), and in the Guadalhorce Valley, such as the MA-3102 (A-356-Colmenar).
The deputy delegate emphasized that the Government has also allocated €2 billion to municipalities to repair municipal facilities and build infrastructure to prevent flooding. “It is an unprecedented package of measures that addresses the needs of administrations, businesses, self-employed individuals, farmers, and citizens,” Salas noted.
For the Málaga reader, these works represent an improvement in road safety and connectivity in rural areas, many of which have been affected by landslides and potholes since the winter storms. The works, which have already begun in some sections, will continue over the coming months at no cost to the Diputación.
