On Tuesday, July 28, at 21:30, the Municipal Band of Music of Fuengirola will offer a free recital in the Parque de España dedicated to military music, under the direction of Alfredo Alarcón Campoy.
The Parque de España in Fuengirola will host a free concert by the Municipal Band of Music on Tuesday, July 28, which will be entirely dedicated to military marches. The event, which will start at 21:30, is part of the municipality's summer cultural programme.
Under the baton of Alfredo Alarcón Campoy, the ensemble will perform a repertoire divided into two parts that includes classical pieces and soundtracks. María Teresa Padilla Rodríguez, one of the group's soloists, will perform as clarinet soloist.
In the first part of the concert, works such as The Fan by Alfredo Javaloyes; Florentiner Mars by Julius Fučík; Under the Double Eagle by Josef Franz Wagner; King Cotton by John Philip Sousa; Colonel Bogey March, popularised by the film The Bridge on the River Kwai by Kenneth J. Alford; and The Siege of Zaragoza by Cristóbal Oudrid will be performed.
After the break, the band will perform Semper Fidelis by John Philip Sousa; Arnhem by Albert E. Kelly; Gaining Windward by Ramón Sáenz de Adana; a medley titled On March to the Movies with arrangements by Larry Clark; 1941 by John Williams; and will close with The Little Flag by Francisco Alonso.
The Councillor for Culture of the Fuengirola City Council, Rodrigo Romero, has highlighted that these types of initiatives aim to provide a wide and quality cultural programme throughout the year, especially in summer, when the city receives more visitors. “Our goal is for anyone, regardless of their age or tastes, to always find a cultural or leisure activity suited to their preferences,” he stated.
Romero emphasised the artistic level of the Municipal Band of Music and encouraged both locals and tourists to attend the concert. “It is a magnificent opportunity to experience a very attractive repertoire performed by an ensemble of extraordinary quality,” he affirmed.
Entry to the concert is free until capacity is reached. It is recommended to arrive early to secure a good spot, as the Parque de España usually sees a high turnout during summer nights.
With this performance, Fuengirola continues its commitment to outdoor culture, offering free leisure alternatives for all audiences during the summer season.
