The Málaga singer Pablo López had to cancel his performance at the Marenostrum Fuengirola festival just 20 minutes before starting, after suffering a serious muscle injury that prevented him from standing.

Last Friday, 3 July, the Marenostrum Fuengirola festival experienced one of the tensest moments in its history. Twenty minutes before Pablo López was due to take the stage, the singer suffered a serious muscle injury that required him to be rushed to hospital. The thousands of attendees who were already crowding the Costa del Sol venue were expecting a magical night, but fate had other plans.

An injury that left him unable to play the piano

According to sources from the organisation, the muscle issue was so severe that the artist could not stand or meet the physical demands of playing the piano. After receiving urgent medical attention, López returned to his hotel to begin a rehabilitation process. The decision to cancel the concert was made, according to the official statement, to prioritise his recovery and ensure that he can return to the stage in the best possible condition.

Hours later, Pablo López himself posted a video in which he appeared visibly affected.

“I am devastated and heartbroken because this is the first time this has happened to me in my life, especially in my hometown, Fuengirola. It is impossible for me to be up to the mark and, although I fought until the last moment, I apologise. This is what hurts me the most in my heart,” he expressed.
The singer's words, who was born in Fuengirola, resonated with his followers, many of whom had travelled from other parts of the province to see him.

New date and conditions for attendees

The festival has announced that the concert is rescheduled for next Tuesday, 30 July. Tickets purchased remain valid for this new date, with no need for any changes. For those who cannot attend, a period of 14 working days has been established to request a full refund. A measure that, according to sources from the organisation, aims to make things easier for affected fans.

Such unforeseen events, although rare, remind us of the fragility of live performances. For the residents of Fuengirola and the tourists who fill the city in summer, the news has been a cold shower. However, the rescheduling allows the show not to be completely lost. The Marenostrum, which this year has strongly invested in top-level artists, hopes that the new date will be just as successful.

Pablo López, known for songs like 'Tu enemigo' or 'El mundo', has a legion of followers in the province. His connection with Fuengirola is strong, and the concert at the festival was one of the most anticipated of the summer. Now, we will have to wait until 30 July to see him on stage, fully recovered.
