Fuengirola's Parque de España hosts a free concert by the Municipal Band dedicated to traditional Spanish music, with zarzuela and pasodoble as the main attractions.
Parque de España in Fuengirola will host a concert by the Municipal Music Band dedicated to traditional Spanish music tomorrow, Tuesday, August 11. The event will start at 21:00 and entry will be free until capacity is reached.
The Councillor for Culture, Rodrigo Romero, has presented this new proposal from the summer concert series of the Fuengirola ensemble. The programme will include popular pieces such as 'La Verbena de la Paloma', one of the most beloved zarzuelas in the national repertoire.
The first part of the recital will feature 'La oración del torero' by Joaquín Turina, and the Valencian rhapsody 'El ruiseñor de la huerta' by Leopoldo Magenti Chelvi. In the second half, the pasodoble 'Maido' by José Rafael Pascual Vilaplana, the prelude to the third act of 'La Marchenera' by Federico Moreno Torroba, and a selection from 'El barberillo de Lavapiés' by Francisco Asenjo Barbieri will be performed.
“This Tuesday, at nine in the evening, we will have a new concert by the Municipal Band in Parque de España, dedicated to Spanish music, with a special focus on zarzuela and pasodoble,” Romero explained.
The Municipal Music Band of Fuengirola, founded in 1962, is one of the cultural reference formations in the city and on the Costa del Sol. It has more than 1,100 printed works in its catalogue and has accumulated over 2,090 performances in more than 300 concerts since 1997, the year it began its current stage under the direction of Alfredo Alarcón Campoy.
The performance will take place outdoors, in the heart of the city, and the Town Hall encourages residents and visitors to enjoy a night of Spanish music in one of Fuengirola's most emblematic spaces. Entry will be free until capacity is reached, so arriving early is recommended.
