The Fuengirola City Council has launched an intensive cleaning shock plan with disc in the busiest areas, which has already acted on streets in the centre and will continue in the Virgen del Carmen neighbourhood.
This week, the Fuengirola City Council has intensified its special cleaning device with disc in various parts of the city, as part of the shock plan that the Cleaning Area is promoting as the end of summer approaches. The aim is to recover and prepare the roads and public spaces that have seen the highest foot traffic during the summer months.
The Councillor for Cleaning, Carmen Díaz, visited the work being carried out on Marbella Street today, where she explained that the device has begun to operate with special attention to the centre, as it is one of the areas that attracts the most people during these months.
“As the end of the summer period approaches, during which our city receives a large influx of visitors, we implement what we call the shock plan, aiming to restore those areas that have seen more intense use during the summer,” Díaz stated.
The work began this week in the city centre and has already been carried out on Germany Street, Sohail Street, San Rafael, and Marconi. Today, the work on Marbella Street will be completed, and subsequently, the device will move to the Virgen del Carmen neighbourhood, where the disc cleaning system will also be applied.
This procedure allows for a much deeper cleaning of the pavement, focusing on the removal of ingrained dirt, stains, and debris that ordinary systems do not remove. Thus, the City Council complements regular maintenance with specific actions in areas that have endured greater activity during the summer.
The councillor highlighted that this device is in addition to other deeper cleaning works being carried out complementarily in various spaces throughout the municipality. The concessionaire company will also carry out intensive cleaning and pavement recovery actions on the seafront promenade and Pedro Cuevas Square, among other points of special foot traffic.
“We are coordinating efforts so that, once summer is over, Fuengirola can recover and maintain its streets and public spaces in the best possible condition. In addition to regular cleaning, these more intensive disc actions now allow us to focus particularly on areas that have experienced higher usage intensity,” concluded Carmen Díaz.
Residents and visitors of Fuengirola will see these works extend over the coming weeks throughout the centre and neighbourhoods, aiming to prepare the city for the final stretch of the year.
