The Equality Area of Fuengirola City Council has presented its programme for the third term, featuring workshops on mindfulness, dance therapy, health, new technologies, positive education, and self-defence for women, among others. November will have a special programme in honour of 25N.
The Fuengirola City Council, through its Equality Area, has unveiled the schedule of activities for the third term of the year, which will take place from September to December. The proposal includes more than twenty workshops and courses that address equality from the perspectives of emotional well-being, health, communication, family, digital transformation, and the prevention of violence against women.
The Councillor for Families, Equality, and Social Welfare, Cristina Bornao, explained that “talking about equality also means talking about opportunities, autonomy, emotional well-being, training, and tools that allow us to develop our full potential and participate fully in our society.” She also emphasised that the commitment of the Council “is not limited to specific dates,” but rather aims to be present “throughout the year.”
In September, activities will kick off with the workshop ‘When the Mind Doesn’t Stop’, based on mindfulness to manage anxiety; ‘Awaken Your Joy’, focused on dance therapy; and ‘Small Habits, Big Changes’, aimed at improving quality of life through routines.
October expands the offerings with the course ‘Apps and Digital Tools That Save Time in Your Business’, aimed at entrepreneurial women and business owners. There will also be mindfulness workshops for better rest, pelvic floor health, public speaking techniques, and positive education.
November will have a special character due to the commemoration on the 25th of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Highlights include the workshop ‘Jansu Do. Self-Defence for Women’, taught by Master Francis over two intensive Saturdays, and the show ‘Dear Me’, by Macarena Albarracín. The month will also feature health and wellness proposals such as ‘Pelvic Floor. Menopause and Vitality’ and ‘Speak Kindly to Yourself. Your Inner Voice, Your Best Ally’, along with the Christmas cooking course ‘Menus to Celebrate’.
December will conclude the programme with the workshop ‘Playing Without Labels. Co-educating Through Play’ and a session on mindfulness and gratitude.
Bornao emphasised that digital transformation “is already part of our daily and professional lives” and that it is essential to ensure that everyone can navigate “with security and autonomy.” Regarding 25N, she noted that the date “should not only be a day to condemn a reality that continues to affect too many women,” but also to “raise awareness, prevent, and provide tools.”
