The former Kempinski Estepona is reborn as Hotel Hacienda del Mar, integrated into Meliá Collection with five stars. The chain has invested 12 million euros in the complex, which features 130 rooms and 45,000 square meters of gardens.

The Kempinski Estepona Hotel is now history. Since last night, the complex is called Hotel Hacienda del Mar and is part of the Meliá Collection with a five-star rating. The official inauguration brought together more than 300 guests from the Costa del Sol, including the famous Helen Lindes and Jaidy Michek.

The opening event was attended by Gabriel Escarrer, president and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, and José María García Urbano, mayor of Estepona, who cut the ribbon. The new hotel opens a chapter focused on wellness, gastronomy, and connection with the environment.

A 12 million investment to reposition luxury on the Costa del Sol

Meliá has invested 12 million euros in the transformation of the establishment, which now has over 130 rooms and suites, and a surface area of 45,000 square meters of gardens. The complex aims to become a benchmark for luxury tourism in the province.

Gabriel Escarrer highlighted the public-private collaboration in the Costa del Sol, which has allowed the area to reposition itself towards more sustainable tourism that generates quality employment. The president of Meliá stated that the Costa del Sol is a unique destination and that the company will continue to grow in Málaga and Andalusia.

For the residents of Estepona, the opening represents a reinforcement of the high-level tourist offer and a commitment to quality of life. The hotel generates direct and indirect jobs and integrates into a municipality that has improved its residential and hotel appeal in recent years.

Four dining spaces for a complete experience

The Hotel Hacienda del Mar Collection has made a strong commitment to gastronomy with four distinct spaces. The Neguri Beach Club, located on the beachfront, offers a maritime atmosphere. The Burladero pays homage to Andalusian tradition with locally sourced products reinterpreted in a contemporary style.

Completing the offer are Almenara, where breakfast is served merging landscape and architecture, and Umbral, a lobby bar for informal meetings. Mayor José María García Urbano emphasized that this opening consolidates Estepona in luxury tourism and confirms the municipality's growth as a residential and hotel destination.

The hotel opens its doors in the peak season, allowing visitors to enjoy its facilities and local gastronomy. The people of Estepona will see how the establishment becomes a new reference point on the coast, attracting a discerning traveler profile.

With this inauguration, Meliá strengthens its presence in the province of Málaga, where it already operates several hotels. The company plans to continue investing in the region, as Escarrer announced during the event.
